Dr. Keller was raised on a farm in northeastern Kansas, along with her four younger brothers. She completed undergraduate and veterinary studies at Kansas State University, graduating in 1985. After working in large animal practices in Bowman, ND and Mandan, ND, she opened Countryside Animal Clinic on her family’s ranch south of Mandan in 1987.

In 1997, Dr. Keller was appointed Deputy State Veterinarian, and in 2004 became State Veterinarian. As State Veterinarian, she was North Dakota’s representative to the National Assembly of State Animal Health Officials, serving as the president of the organization from 2015-2017.

Along with her family, Dr. Keller operates Keller’s Broken Heart Ranch south of Mandan, providing veterinary services and performing various management duties. She has been married to Dwight for over 30 years and she takes great pride in the fact that all of their children and their families are involved in ranch operation.
